LECTRO-TREAT Comparisons

The suppressed spark or Lectro-Treat method of plastic surface treatment is specifically designed to electrically treat the surface of three dimensional plastic objects.  It works well with products made from all types of molding processes:

  • Injection molded
  • Blow molded
  • Extruded
  • Thermoformed
  • Vacuum formed

It is an ideal alternative to traditional impingement methods of surface treating plastic products because it offers 360° treating without the drawbacks of these conventional methods.

Corona Treaters

Unlike typical corona treating systems, the suppressed spark system does not use high frequency operating at 50/60HZ.  It is far safer for employees in a plant operation and utilizes much less energy.  It also improves efficiency and reduces the safety risks associated with many corona treating systems.

Flame Treaters

While traditional flame treating equipment often causes shrinkage, warpage, surface crazing and dulling of high gloss finishes, the Lectro-Treat process yields an even, consistent surface treatment to the plastic part.  It also reduces set up times, improves efficiency, and eliminates many of the safety issues inherent in flame treating systems.

Plasma Treaters

While similar in concept, the Lectro-Treat outperforms vacuum chamber plasma treaters by providing uniform coverage of 3 dimensional parts while minimizing safety, energy, and productivity issues.
